ACT or SAT Math Test Prep

This description for test prep works for either ACT or SAT math prep. A few years ago, both tests underwent big changes. The newer SAT math is more like the ACT than it is like the old SAT. The ACT math changes also brought it closer to the SAT.. I provide some combination of SAT math tests offered online by college board, newer ACT math tests, and older ACT math tests.

In 2024, the SAT and probably the ACT are going digital. Since my philoshyphy for test prep is that the best preparation is to learn the math topics, my test prep is not very dependent on the format.

ACT or SAT Math Test Prep Package

My test prep tutoring is offered as a package. The package rate is $950. (I offer a discount for students who have been a six-pack student for school math tutoring in the same school year. Discounts are shown on the Rates page.

Included in this package are:
- several practice tests provided as pdf files
- an initial thorough diagnostic assessment
- six hours of test prep tutoring
- brief follow up diagnostic assessments

ACT (or SAT) Diagnostic Assessment:

Student will be given a practice math test from actual past ACT or SAT tests. What you get in this service is that the test will be scored and expertly analyzed by me, then student and parents will be given an email report about math areas where the student needs work. In addition to math areas, the assessment addresses areas such as timing, confidence, organization, and others.

ACT or SAT tutoring

The six hours of tutoring in the package is comprehensive, based on what was learned in the assessment. Students will be coached in areas of weakness and provided many practice problems. One by one, the gaps will be filled and the student will be ready to succeed on the test!

Many students will be able to get good coverage of all of the necessary topics in six hours of tutoring. This of course depends upon the level and aptitude of the student. If more than six hours are needed, additional hours will be charged at the regular school math rate.

The amount of tutoring needed also depends on how much work the student is able to do between sessions and whether we are doing exclusively test prep or if we are trying to mix it in with school help.

In addition to the regular ACT and SAT test prep, I also offer prep for the SAT II subject tests, Math Level I and Level II. If this is what you need, let me know and we will figure out a plan and a rate.

Additional Diagnostic Assessments (less detailed)

During the weeks of tutoring after the first assessment, the student will be asked to complete more practice tests which I will provide. These will be analyzed in order to continue to choose the right direction for the tutoring, however the follow up reports are shorter than the original report. Most students have time for at least two additional tests, usually more.
